The Mint Hill Times is being built around a simple idea: local information should be easy to find, useful to read, and possible to check.
Start with the record
Our reporting begins with official documents, public meeting records and municipal notices. Each story links to its source material.
Check before publishing
The news engine checks factual claims against retrieved records. Missing evidence, sensitive allegations or a failed check keep a story in draft.
Be open about the process
Automated reporting is disclosed on each article. Readers can inspect the supporting documents and understand where the information came from.
Where we are now
The reader site displays stories approved for publication. During our supervised launch, an editor reviews each story against its source documents. Automated checks must also pass before a story becomes public.
Before autonomous publication begins, the project calls for a 14-day dry run and an audit of 50 consecutive generated articles. Automated checks reduce risk; they do not guarantee that every interpretation is correct.

Corrections and accountability
Material corrections should explain what changed and when. A story with unresolved factual concerns is withheld or removed from publication until its supporting records can be checked.

Reader privacy
The reader site does not require an account or collect email addresses. Standard server access logs may include IP addresses and browser information. External source links open websites with their own privacy policies.
