Arthritis Pain And Natural Treatments

CHARLOTTE – With so many people dealing with arthritic pain, any type of natural treatment is welcomed for pain relief. Luckily, I have treated, at Soothe The Soles Reflexology, several clients with Reflexology techniques, along with aromatherapy blends with the positive outcome from arthritic pain.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that a whopping 52.5 million adults in the U.S. are afflicted with arthritis. That is more than one in five adults!

Arthritis is a disease that causes inflammation and swelling in and around the joints. It’s usually classified as either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis occurs when the cartilage between joints wears down, causing inflammation and pain in the joints we most frequently use, such as knees, hips, spine, and hands. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by an autoimmune dysfunction where the white blood cells destroy the cartilage.

There are several essential oils that have been proven to naturally relieve symptoms of arthritis when safely applied topically to the site of inflammation and decrease the severity of pain. Here are my favorite five;

Ginger -oil is an amazing healing agent that contains chemicals with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects on the body to lessen pain.

Turmeric- the most active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin, has become known as a great anti-inflammatory.

Frankincense- oil can inhibit the production of inflammatory molecules and can be useful in helping to prevent the breakdown of the cartilage tissue.

Myrrh- oil also had anti-inflammatory properties, and it’s often used in tandem with Frankincense to treat arthritis.

Orange- citrus scents make you feel more awake, and the strong anti-inflammatory properties help fight pain.

Using these essential oils, collectively or individually, properly blended and diluted with a carrier oil may be just the relief you are looking for to alleviate your inflammation and pain. I recommend speaking to a licensed aromatherapist for guidance when using essential oils. You can contact me with any questions in regards to safe aromatherapy at Sandy@VitalityGinger.com.
