Independence High School Patriots

Football:



Elijah Beamer – The senior running back gained over 100 yards on 12 carries for the Patriots Friday night.  His longest run was for 40 yards from scrimmage.

Davyne Simpson – The sophomore quarterback for the Patriots entered the game in the second half to score two touchdowns on runs of six and two yards for Indy keeping the game close in the third quarter while igniting a possible comeback.

Dylan Bryan – The senior wide receiver for the Patriots had a solid game Friday night with multiple receptions and almost 100 passing yards gained.  The SW4A Conference leading receiver has gained over 700 yards offensively for the season with one game remaining.

Ty Clawson – The senior linebacker had multiple solo tackles, a number of assists and applied pressure on the quarterback Friday night for the Patriots.

Soccer:

C.Van Than – The junior forward continued adding to his single season school scoring  record with a goal against Rocky River for his 30th of the season.  He also added two assists in the match.

Chase Davis – The junior midfielder had two goals and an assist this week for the Patriots who finished out their regular season on Friday.

Nigel Johnson – Another solid performance this week from the Patriots strong group of juniors.  Nigel contributed two assists and added one goal this final week of the season.

Golf:

Parker Melting – The SW4A Conference Player of the Year shot a 72 to lead all honors in the Conference did not fair as expected at the 2017 NCHSAA Women’s 4A Golf State Championship.  The senior finished with a respectable first round 81, then shot an 89 in round two which placed her in a tie for 36th spot out of 78 golfers.  Parker had a solid senior season.

Rocky River High School Ravens

Football:

Jailyn Wilson – The senior wide receiver ran a reverse around the left side on a fake punt for the Ravens scoring a huge 50 yard touchdown giving his team a 14-0 lead in the first half.

James Maye – The junior speedster wide receiver ran a reverse play for a 15 yard touchdown run for the Ravens against Independence for the teams first touchdown.  Also, he caught 3 pass receptions for 57 yards.

John Park – The sophomore running back had a solid game for the Ravens.  He had 19 rushes for 81 yards and 2 pass receptions for 17.  Park also scored on a six yard power touchdown run for the Ravens to close the game.

Brent Jones – The junior quarterback passed 22 times and completed 12 for 146 passing yardage and rushed for 40 yards on 7 carries providing 186 yards of total offense.

Jaylon Sharpe – The solid junior linebacker had 5 solo tackles, 2 assists and 1 quarterback sack in the Ravens victory over Independence.

Kentrelle Groom –  The senior defensive end was a wall on Friday night against rival Independence.  He had 2 solo tackles, 2 assists, 2 quarterback sacks and a key fumble recovery.
