Independence Patriots

Football:

Amarray Green – The senior running back accumulated 133 yards on seven carries including a 78 yard dash from scrimmage for a touchdown in the Patriots loss on Friday night against West Mecklenburg.

Soccer:

C Van Than – The senior scoring machine in 7 games has 10 goals, 2 assists and 22 points for the Patriots.  The all time scorer has exceeded 50 career goals and will continue to set a new standard for goals at the school.

Chase Davis – A very consistent player has contributed 6 goals, 2 assists for 14 points averaging 2.0 points per game.

David Martinez – The excellent sophomore with good all around skills in 6 games has 5 goals, 6 assists and 16 points.

Dino Silva – The senior midfielder and defender has 1 goal, and leads the team with 7 assists when on the attack for a total of 9 points.  His senior leadership and steady play should be recognized.

Rocky River Ravens

Football:

James Maye – The senior wide receiver and offensive weapon had multiple pass receptions against North Mecklenburg with his longest being 20 yards.  Maye also returned the second half kick-off 80 yards to the house for a touchdown for the Ravens.  Once in the open field and has a step or two on the defense, James goes into another gear and accelerates.

Brent Jones – The senior rumbled for a 15 yard touchdown and passed for 160 yards through the air to keep the Ravens within striking distance.

Jaylon Sharpe – The talented linebacker had another solid performance against North Mecklenburg with three big solo stops and one huge hit we could hear in the press box.  The Vikings tried running around the ends and off tackle instead of up the middle to negate his strength which is to clog up the center and shutdown the run.  Jaylon also forced pass rush pressure on the QB.

Queens Grant Stallions

Soccer:

Mario Portillo – The senior in 8 games continues to lead the Stallions in all major categories.  He has 12 goals, 2 assists for a total of 26 points.  This gives Mario an average of 3.3 points per game.  He continues to play every game at a high level.

Micah Parker – In 8 games he has scored 7 goals with 2 assists for 16 points.  His contribution to the team is the consistency of performance.  Micah is averaging 2.0 points per game for the season to date.
