Independence High School Patriots  

Basketball: 



Jamarius Burton: In the Western Regional Finals Championship game Burton led all scorers with 25 points, hauled down 10 rebounds for the double-double, added 4 assists, 5 steals and 1 deflection to lead the Patriots to their huge victory propelling the team into the State Championship game vs. Heritage Huskies at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Matt Smith:  The Patriots 6’6″ big man contributed 14 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double along with 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal to control the boards and inside the paint for the Patriots.

Honorable Mention:  Raja Milton, added 9 points, 5 rebounds 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 deflection, Andra McKee scored 6 points, added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 1 deflection, while Jordan Mobley contributed 9 points and 2 steals in the win.

Girls Softball: 

Abrianna Berry: The sophomore went 3-3 with two doubles, 2 runs and an RBI in the Lady Patriots win against Audrey Kell.

Brianna Grant: The junior smacked two doubles for 3 RBI’s while going 2-4 in the opener.

Anna Easter: The versatile third baseman/first baseman went 2-4 belting a double and scoring 3 RBI’s for the victors.

Emily Shaver: Contributed two hits including a double while going 2-3 in the ball game.

Kayla Douglas: The Lady Patriots #1 pitcher picked up her first win of the season with a 2.80 ERA.

Girls Lacrosse: 

Grace Holmes: The senior attacker and offensive threat for the Lady Patriots scored 5 goals on 7 shots on goal, while adding 2 assists for 7 points against Lake Norman Charter.

Rocky River High School Ravens 

Basketball: 

Jaden Springer:  The super sophomore led the Ravens with 16 points, added 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks in a gallant effort against local rival Independence in the Western Regional Finals.

Darlinstone Dubar: The junior 6’5″ Ravens big man contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal in his final game of the season finishing strong.

Baseball:

Jared Carter: The senior in 3 games is 5-7 with multiple walks, 2 runs scored and is hitting .714 early on in the season.

Jaylon Sharpe: The junior is 3-9 with 2 RBI’s and a double in 3 ball games for the Ravens.

Queens Grant High School Stallions

Baseball: 

John Orlowski: The senior leader early on in the season with 5 at bats has 3 hits with 2 RBI’s including a double for .667 batting average.

Andy Duran: The sophomore went 3-3 recently with 5 RBI’s, 5 runs scored including a double for an extra base hit.

Bryce Gorospe: The junior went 2-3 recently with 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s and scored 3 runs  for the Stallions.

Honorable Mention: Jacob Laplant went 1-2, with 2 runs, 2 RBI’s and cracking his first triple of the young season.
