Independence High School Patriots

Basketball:



Jamarius Burton – The talented senior continued to lead the Patriots this past week.  Against East Meck he scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and 3 steals for the double-double.  He added 12 points and 7 rebounds with 6 assists against the Pirates from Porter Ridge in limited playing time.

Andra McKee – The upcoming junior who is making his mark scored 13 points with 5 rebounds in the East Meck game.  He led all scorers Friday night by netting 23 points with 5 rebounds against the Pirates.

Honorable Mention:  Matt Smith added 12 points and 5 rebounds against the Eagles, and had 11 points with 10 rebounds Friday night for the double-double.  Raja Milton the junior guard scored 12 points with 5 rebounds vs. East Meck while adding 10 points and 5 rebounds against Porter Ridge.

Girls:

Braylyn Milton – The outstanding freshman scored 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals and had 3 blocks against East Meck to earn another week of recognition in this column.

Sharonda Smith – The consistent junior performer scored 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and had 6 steals against the Eagles from East Meck.

Queens Grant High School Stallions: 

Basketball:

LB Boyette – The sophomore guard scored 21 points with 7 rebounds, 6 assists against Bradford Prep recently.  He also scored 13 points with 7 rebounds in Friday nights big win against Mountain Island.

Jah’Quez Sanders – The smooth junior point guard scored 20 points with 6 assists and 5 rebounds against Bradford Prep on Tuesday.  Then on Friday night he contributed 13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists vs. Mountain Island for the Stallions.

Khalil Chapman – The 6′ 5″ senior added 14 points against Bradford Prep, then scored another 12 points, 17 rebounds for the double-double along with 3 blocks to help lead the Stallions past Mountain Island.

Honorable Mention: Jeremiah Murphy scored 16 points with 6 rebounds against Mountain Island and Darnell Craig scored 17 points against Bradford Prep this week.

Girls:

Ashleigh Aberly – The young sophomore with potential scored 20 points while adding 13 rebounds for the double-double including 3 blocks for the Lady Stallions in their big win over Bradford Prep.

Jewell Williams – The junior contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds while she dominated the boards with 5 blocks for her best game of the season.  Her effort was huge in the Lady Stallions 48-25 win.

Rocky River High School Ravens

Basketball:

Jaden Springer – The sophomore who is averaging 23.9 points per game leads the Ravens in all major statistical categories had another dominating week.  He scored 24 points against rival Butler and 23 points vs. Hickory Ridge this week along with multiple rebounds, a double-double, assists, steals and blocks as the Ravens continue their surge.

Honorable Mention: Jordan Campbell 17 points against Butler, Narique Smith two key 3 point shots in the 4th period vs. the Bulldogs and excellent defensive play against DJ Little head to head throughout the second half of the Ravens huge victory.  Marcus Evans continued his consistent play for the Ravens this week making a solid contribution.  He scored 10 and 7 points, however, his constant effort does not go unnoticed as he always seems to be in the middle of the action providing key assists, steals and rebounds with steady defense.
