
Independence High School Patriots
Basketball:
Jamarius Burton – The senior was named Player of Game against East Mecklenburg. Burton a talented Guard scored 18 points, pulled down 12 rebounds had 3 steals, with 1 blocked shot and 3 deflections in the Patriots 72-52 victory.
Matt Smith – The Patriots strong athletic Forward scored a game leading 19 points, grabbed 6 rebounds contributed 3 blocked shots along with 1 steal for the Patriots in another solid performance.
Honorable Mention: Junior Andra McKee had another consistent game making a significant contribution scoring 11 points along with having 4 steals in the contest.
Girls Basketball:
Braylyn Milton – The talented freshman was selected as the Player of the Game against East Mecklenburg scoring 14 points, hauling in 5 rebounds, adding 3 blocks and 1 steal to an impressive outing for the Lady Patriots.
Ayanna Anderson – The sophomore pumped in 12 points and dominated the boards grabbing 13 rebounds for the green and gold making a significant contribution to the Lady Patriots victory.
Queens Grant High School Stallions
Girls Basketball:
Ashleigh Aberly – The solid and consistent player from QGHS scored 15 points and pulled down multiple rebounds to lead the Lady Stallions to their first victory of the season against Grace Academy.
Rocky River High School Ravens
Basketball:
Jaden Springer – The outstanding and talented sophomore had another solid week scoring a total of 38 points between the battle with Butler on Tuesday and Myers Park on Friday night. On Friday he scored 22 points, grabbed double digit rebounds, blocked shots, had 3 steals for the Ravens victory over the Mustang’s. Entering the game Springer is averaging 25.5 points per game for the season.
Darlinstone Dubar – The solid and consistent junior Forward continues to make a major contribution to the Ravens 4-2 start of the season. He is averaging 12.8 points per game with 5 rebounds. He scored 14 points, hauling in multiple rebounds and had 1 blocked shot in the Ravens victory.
Honorable Mention: The flashy freshman Point Guard Kahlil Brantley stepped up and scored 13 points for the Ravens in their victory Friday night against Myers Park. He also used his quickness in the full court press to force multiple turnovers leading to fast break point opportunities.
Girl’s Basketball:
Andresia Alexander – The junior Guard led the Lady Ravens in scoring against Butler with 17 points while grabbing multiple rebounds and steals for Rocky River.
