
Independence High School Patriots
Basketball:
Jamarius Burton – The senior standout for the Patriots scored 26 points shooting 11-22 from the floor, he added 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in the Patriots win over Hopewell.
Matt Smith – The junior forward contributed 13 points shooting 6-6 from the floor, he grabbed 7 rebounds to make a major contribution in the Patriots victory.
Soccer:
C Van Than – Has been selected to the Southwestern 4A All-Conference, All-Regional and All-State 4A teams scoring 31 goals which ranked the Patriots single season scoring record holder as the fourth highest goal scorer in the state.
Omar Gonzalez – Was selected to the Southwestern 4A All-Conference and All-Regional teams for the Patriots had an outstanding season.
Chase Davis and Jack Hebert – These Patriots both made significant contributions for Independence were selected to the Southwestern 4A All-Conference team.
Golf:
Parker Melting – The senior golfer for the Patriots was named to the Women’s Southwestern 4A All-Conference team and has been named a member of the Charlotte Observer first team all four years of her high school career.
Queens Grant High School Stallions:
Soccer:
Jose Duarte – The Stallions outstanding goal keeper was selected the PAC 7 Player of the Year. He was named All-Region 8 1A Player of the Year. Jose also was chosen to the All-State 1A team and is only the second athlete in school history to receive such an honor.
Jake Braswell, Caleb Linnane, Mario Portillo and Carlos Resillas – Were all named to both the PAC 7 All-Conference and All-Region 8 1A teams for their outstanding and consistent play throughout the season. Micah Parker and David Steger were both given Honorable Mention honors for their contribution.
Cross Country:
Lucas Brown – This junior track athlete was named to the PAC 7 1A All-Conference team, All-Region and All-State teams and was runner up in the 1A State Cross Country championships. Run Lucas run!
Matthew Dougherty –Â The sophomore was selected to the PAC 7 1A All-Conference team and qualified as an individual competitor for the State Championships.
Rocky River Ravens:
Jaden Springer – The talented sophomore scored 37 points in the season opener against Northwest Cabarrus. He also added 12 rebounds, blocked 4 shots, 3 steals and had 2 assists for the Ravens.
Jordan Campbell – The senior guard had a solid game against Northwest Cabarrus scoring 12 points and shooting 3 for 7 in three pointers.
