The running Stallions from Queens Grant High continue to be undefeated in conference competition.  The team is now (9-6), overall, and (4-0) in their conference.

The Stallions took a quick 18-5 lead in the initial five minutes of the first period.  By the end of the period they had a 28-11 lead over the Cardinals from Union Academy.  By the end of the second period the boys from Mint Hill led 43-29.  It appeared the Stallions took their foot off the gas peddle and Coach Forsythe made the necessary adjustments to motivate the team to play hard throughout the contest.

By the end of the third period the Stallions opened up their lead to 71-38 and never were seriously challenged.  A combination of fast breaks, accurate shooting, solid defense and turnovers gave the Stallions a commanding lead outscoring their opponent 29 to 9  during this run.

In the fourth period the team once again seemed to coast a little with a big lead.  The Cardinals had a 12-2 run playing their best basketball of the evening.  However, Coach Forsythe called a time out to get the team focused on playing strong defense and concentrating on playing a fast tempo offense.  By the end of the contest Queens Grant pulled away once again with the final score 91-65 and a 26 point victory.

The Stallions were led by Senior Guard Terron Dixon with 28 points and 10 rebounds a solid double-double for the all-time school scoring leader.  Jah’Quez Sanders pumped in 22 points and 8 rebounds to have a solid performance for the victors.  Christian “Ace” Owens contributed 12 points, Jeremiah Murphy 11 points and 8 rebounds, Xavier Westbrook 9.

Union Academy was led by Dillion Harrison 22, Johnny Anderson 11 and Jake Boggs 11 points. The Cardinals are now (10-6) overall for the season and have lost two big conference games to both North Stanly and Queens Grant who will face off Thursday night in an away game at North Stanly High School.

The Stallions will have their next home game Friday night against visiting South Stanly.
