The Rocky River Ravens led by standout Jaden Springer and Darlinstone Dubar dismantle the Hough Huskies on their home court prior to the Christmas Holiday Season break.

Kahlil Brantley hits free throw.

The Ravens jumped out to an early first period lead when both Springer and Dubar in particular dominated the first 7 minutes of the contest.  The Ravens started out quick running on the Huskies using their team speed pushing the ball up court at a very fast pace.  However, the Huskies were able to bounce back and recover from the initial onslaught in the final minutes of the period to tie the score at 21-21.

Action under the boards.

In the second period Coach Mosely had his team switch up with substitutions coming off the bench to make a difference.  Marcus Evans a starter began to carry the Ravens off the boards and defensively while scoring some key points.  However, with senior guard Jordan Campbell still not at 100% returning from his shoulder injury the Ravens guards including Narique Smith, Tray Williams, Nick Burns, Nakeem Nicholas and flashy freshman Kahlil Brantley all made a major impact and contribution giving the Ravens a 35-29 half time lead at the intermission.  Dubar had 10 points, Springer 9 and Evans 6 for the Ravens.

More action under the boards.

In the third period the Ravens applied a full court press for the first 4 minutes of the period which proved to be very effective opening up a 10-2 run giving the home team more breathing room helping them get into their comfort zone.  Meanwhile, Springer started to take control of the game and began to mount up his point totals.  After Dubar slammed his second dunk of the game and Tray Williams hitting a 3 pointer the Ravens opened up their lead to a comfortable 56-43 margin.

In the fourth period Coach Moseley had his team apply their second full court press which was fairly effective giving the Ravens an opportunity to obtain some turnovers into easy baskets for the home team.   In fact one turnover was so compelling that it electrified the Ravens crowd when Springer stole a pass and broke for the basket and slammed a dunk getting high off the ground uncontested.

Ravens Darlinstone Dubar makes a jump shot.

Hough is a solid team with some good physical and strong inside players along with quick guards who can shoot.  However, the Ravens were simply the better team this night and it showed up in the final outcome with a 81-68 victory.

Springer who leads the Ravens in all categories led all scorers with 23 points, Dubar added 20 and were the only players in double figurers for the home team.  The rest of the team scored between 2-9 points giving the Ravens some nice team balance offensively.  While Myles Washington scored 18 points for the Huskies and Jabril McCormick 16.

The Ravens will play their next game in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic in Lexington, Kentucky on 12/27.
