Independence Patriots

Football: 



Shai Wheeler – Shai “Wheels” Wheeler had a great game on special teams for the Patriots consistently putting his team in excellent field position.  Shai had kick-off returns of  42, 44, 45 and 55 yards for a total of 186 yards on Friday night against Olympic.  He also made key pass receptions to make a major contribution, including a 7 yard touchdown.

Brian Morgan –  The junior wide receiver had a 35 yard reception to set up the Patriots first score to allow a touchdown run into the end zone from the six yard line.  In the final drive Morgan was outstanding with a 48 yard reception with 43 seconds remaining.  Then with 10.6 seconds on the scoreboard he caught a 13 yard touchdown pass for the game winner.

Luke McPhail – The senior quarterback who was under pressure all night stepped up big time for the Patriots.  Luke hit on two touchdown passes and connected on several passes in key third down situations.  He was especially sharp in the final winning drive with 55 seconds remaining with the drive beginning on the Patriots 45 yard line.  He connected on a 48 yard reception and for the winning touchdown from the 13 yard line.

Antwan Watson – The hard working senior running back is no longer second string.  He ran for a 6 yard touchdown in the opening drive.  He rumbled 41 yards for a touchdown in the second period to put the Patriots up 14-6 at half time.  Then he scored on a 45 yard touchdown scamper in the third quarter.  Antwan made several hard charging runs giving a solid second effort making it difficult for defenders to bring him down.

Soccer: 

Chris Davis – Senior Chris Davis scored three goals and had one assist against Olympic for a total of 7 points in the contest.  He was named Player of the Game for the Patriots.  Davis has a total of 5 goals and 1 assist for 11 points this season.

Cvan Than – The Patriots leading scorer and all time record holder for goals scored his 49th of his career and will be seeking his 50th goal in his next match.  Cvan has six goals on the season with 1 assist for 13 points in 5 games played.

Adam Ali – The goalkeeper has two clean sheets to his credit in consecutive wins for the Patriots.  He also has 21 saves on the season in the first 5 games played.

David Martinez – has 2 goals and 5 assists for 9 points.  /Arguello Pablo – has contributed 3 goals and 1 assist for 7 points.  Dino Silva – the senior has 1 goal and 4 assists for 6 points this season in five games played.

Tennis: 

Madelynn Fowler – The freshman #1 singles player is 4-1 on the season.  Junior Elizabeth Frier the #2 and #3 on the team is 3-0 in singles competition.  Meanwhile, in doubles the combination of Fowler and Frier are undefeated at 3-0, and seniors double team of Kayla Ducar and Katie French are 2-0 on the season to date.

Rocky River Ravens

Football: 

Khalil Alexander, overall performance, Korion Sharpe, offense, Javon Nelson, defense and Miles McNeil, special teams were all named “Player of the Game” against Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology 23-10 Raven win recently.

Queens Grant High School

Soccer: 

Mario Portillo – The senior midfielder has scored 6 goals and has 1 assist for a total of 13 points in six games played.  Junior Micah Parker has tallied 5 goals and 2 assists for 12 points for the Stallions.  Goal Keeper Jacob Goodman has accumulated 37 saves on 55 shots on goal in six games into the season for a .672 save ratio.
