
The Independence women’s basketball team put up big numbers in all four quarters en-route to a 81-36 non-conference road win Wednesday at Concord High School.

Junior point guard Braylyn Milton led the Lady Patriots with a double double and a career high 37 points. She had 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Junior forward Gracie Breckenridge also posted a double double scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She also had 5 blocked shots, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Trinity Thompson poured in 15 points and 2 rebounds. She also had 4 assists and 4 steals. Alex Barrino had 8 points, 2 rebounds and 4 steals. Ayanna Anderson scored 4 points and had a game high16 rebounds. She also blocked 4 shots and had 1 steal. Azuria Barrino had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Laura Flynn also scored 2 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. She also had 4 blocked shots and 1 assist.
In the first period, the Lady Spiders stayed within reach of the Lady Patriots scoring 17 first quarter points to make the score 20-17 at the end of the quarter.

But after that, Indy’s defense stepped up and held Concord to ten second-quarter points, That would be the last period the Lady Spiders put up double digits as the Lady Patriots took a 42-27 halftime lead.
The Lady Patriots allowed only nine second-half points, holding Concord to two points. Â in the third period and giving up seven in the final stanza.
The Lady Patriots scored 39 second-half points, 20 in the third and 19 in the fourth quarter to take the non-conference win 81-36.
The Lady Patriots improved to 5-1 on the season.
