
The Lady Patriots moved to 11-7 overall and 4-4 in the Southwestern 4A Conference with a 50-35 win over the East Mecklenburg Eagles in Tuesday night’s conference game played at Independence High School.
After a slow start and leading 8-5, Indy’s junior guard Sharonda Smith sparked the Lady Patriots by hitting a 3-pointer as the horn sounded to make the score 11-5 as the first period ended.

The Lady Patriots put the game away with a stingy second quarter defense that allowed only eight Eagle points. Also in the second period the Patriots’ offense caught fire as the Ladies poured in four 3-point baskets. Sharonda Smith connected on two of the 3-pointer. Braylyn Milton added one. As in the first quarter, the Lady Patriots hit a 3-pointer as the horn sounded. Senior guard Brianna McManus hit the 3-point basket from top of the key to give the Lady Patriots a 29-11 half time lead.
In the second half the Lady Patriots added 21 more points to take a 50-35 conference win over the East Mecklenburg Eagles.
Braylyn Milton led the Lady Patriots with 22 points one of which was a 3-pointer, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Sharonda Smith poured in 16 points which included three 3-pointers, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Brianna McManus added 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Ayanna Anderson had 3 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 2 steals. Azure Barrino had 2 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Brianna Grant finished the night with 2 points and 1 rebound.
