On November 13, Independence softball standout Jaylin Adkins signed to attend and play softball for Limestone College.
Indy’s head softball coach Amanda Larry told those attending: “Jaylin was an extremely skilled player and a varsity starter since her freshman year. She has worked with elite travel softball teams and private skill coaches for years. Jaylin was a positive vocal leader on the field, whether she was playing in the outfield or on the mound. She has played in sixty games, contributing sixty-five putouts and eighteen assists. Last season she had an outstanding 1.53 ERA in fourteen appearances with thirty-one strikeouts.” Coach Larry also told the crowd: “Jaylin was a strong dependable hitter on offense and a smart base runner. Jaylin posted a 326 batting average with forty-four hits and twenty-six RBIs. Jaylin knows her role within a team and understands the game on a high level, allowing the potential for great success in college athletics and anything in her future.”
“In the classroom, Jaylin was a well-rounded student-athlete. She is a leader in the school and a member of the school’s Dream Team. We at Independence wish Jaylin the best in the future.”
After signing her National Letter of Intent, Jaylin said: “Signing day was such an amazing and surreal experience. I have been working towards this since I started playing softball at four years old. After visiting Limestone and meeting the coaches, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. Even though I hate to leave Mint Hill and all the amazing people I have here, I am so excited to start this next chapter of my life. Go Saints!”
