Independence tops Garinger 67-50 in a SW4A Conference game

On Tuesday night the Independence Patriots hosted the Garinger Wildcats in a Southwestern 4A Conference game and came away with a 67-50 victory over the Wildcats.

Victor Tshiona led the Patriots with a double double scoring 23 points on 7- of-12 from the floor, hitting 9-of-11 from the charity stripe and pulling down 18 rebounds. Jordan Mobley poured in 11 points, got 4 rebounds and had one steal. Andra McKee added 8 points, Robert Bonar had 7, Matthew Statlie with 6, Raja Milton added 5 and Justyn Hamilton finished the night with 2.

In the first quarter Indy’s offense managed only ten points. Coach Davis pulled four of his five starters and the teams finished the first quarter in a 10-10 tie.

In the second quarter junior Jordan Mobley scored 9 of Indy’s 22 points hitting three three pointers to take Indy to a 32-20 half time lead.

The third quarter saw Indy’s Victor Tahiona score 10 of Indy 15 points hitting 4-of-5 from the free throw line and six points from the floor to give Indy a 47-37 third quarter lead.

In the fourth quarter Indy’s sophomore Andra Mckee and senior Victor Tahiona scored eight points each to lead the Patriots to a 67-50 conference win and stay in second place in the Southwestern 4A Conference.
