Ardrey Kell tops Independence 12-2

John W. Matthews field on the Independence High School campus played host to the visiting Ardrey Kell Knights in a non-league contest that was won by the Knights 12-2.  The Knights’ offense was in high gear scoring in every inning except for the second.

Ben Hagan started for the Patriots and allowed three runs on six hits with five walks and a strikeout.



Connor Randall pitched two innings of relief.  He did not allow an earned run, gave up no hits with two walks and struck out two batters.  However, on one of his strikeouts the runner reached on an error.

Lucas Turner reined Randall and faced 5 batters before Jacob Haislip took the mound to close out the inning.  Haislip gave up two unearned runs on no hits. He had a strikeout and a walk before ending the game.

After the Knights took a 1-0 first inning lead, the Patriots tied the score in the second inning when Brandon Moser scored on a Hoven Perez infield hit.

After adding runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, the Knights’s big inning came in the sixth when they added five runs on four hits, two of which were doubles and two walks.

Ardrey Kell’s offense produced two more runs in the seventh.  The Knights lead off batter walked and reached third on a pick off attempt.  The next batter was hit by a pitch, and he reached third on another pickoff attempt.

In the bottom of the seventh, Indy’s Bryson Jusko drew a walk, and Raja Milton reached after being hit by a pitch.  With two outs, Ryan Carney stepped to the plate and singled to center scoring Jusko to make the final score 12-2.
