The Lady Stallions are coming off a tough 0-16 season in the 1A Uwharrie Conference in 2016-17.  The team had between 7-8 players available for every game and would eventually wear down against teams with 12 players or more.  However, they are having a fresh start with new Head Coach Kevin King who was the coach at Metrolina Christian where he went 16-15 overall and 4-6 in conference play.  The coach also now has 10 committed players which should prove to be beneficial for the lady Stallions.

Returning Starters/Players:  Sophomore  Ashleigh Aberly 6’1″ F., Junior Emeli Carrasco 5’6″ G/F., Junior Jewell Williams 6’2″ C., Junior Faoz Francis 5’5″ G/F., Junior Trinity Sutton 5’5″ G., Junior Claudia Robinson 5’8″ F.

Key Newcomers:  Senior Sheona Woodham (5’7″ G) a transfer from Forest Hills High School.  Sophomore Abby Torres, 5’1″G ., Junior Nayla Williams 5’9″ F., and Mikaylah Pratt 5’8″ F.

Senior Sheona Woodham will bring needed experience and offense to the team.  Woodham was named 3rd Team All-Union County Hoops three times and 1st Team All-Newcomer team.  She averaged 12.0 points per game and 3.0 assists for the Yellow Jackets.

The team is expected to get back into the win column this season.  They are improved and with the addition of Woodham, along with Ashleigh Aberly and Jewel Williams upfront they could be a force for opponents to match up against.  Also, the other returning Lady Stallions who have a new upbeat positive attitude and some new young athletes with potential QGHS should be much more competitive in the PAC 7 1A Conference, however, Stallion fans will have to be patient with the overall results in a competitive league with some solid teams.

QGHS Lady Stallions varsity basketball team will open their season away playing a non-conference game at Anson High School (Wadesboro, NC) on Thursday November 16th.
