MINT HILL, NC – On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Rebecca Ashton, wife, loving mother of 4, daughter, sister, and most importantly best friend to all, passed away at the age of 39.

Rebecca was born on July 24, 1981, in Charlotte North Carolina to Marla Agner and Howard Lewis. Mint Hill was where she spent the majority of her life and called her home. She attended school locally at Independence High School and thrived within the IB program, National Honor Society, and was both a North Carolina and CMS scholar. She went on to further her education at Vanderbilt University and UNCC from which she achieved her Bachelor’s degree for mathematics and worked in a variety of jobs ranging from inventory analysis to teaching.



On February 24, 2017, Rebecca married Ian Ashton with whom she built a beautiful life and raised her four daughters; Bailey, Harmony, Arabella, and Scarlett. She had a passion for dancing, country music, red frogs, roses, and numbers. She was known for her love of red, her infectious laugh, and the ability to make anyone feel like they belonged and were loved, even in a world that could knock you down so easily.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her grandparents Fred and Louise Agner, and sister Randal Lewis. She is survived by her husband Ian, her four daughters, Bailey, Harmony, Arabella, and Scarlett, her mother and father Marla and Howard, Stepfather Andy, her sisters Melanie, Anna, Haydn, Christy and Whitney and brother Jonathan, Uncle Ben, godmother Sherrie as well as several nieces and cousins.

Donations may be sent to St. Judes for cancer research in honor of her sister Randal.
