MINT HILL, NC – Aubrey M. Bartlett (98) of Mint Hill passed away on July 20, 2022.

He was born June 24, 1924 in Mecklenburg County to Lawrence and Rachel Moser Bartlett. He graduated from Bain High School and served in the Army in WWll. Using the GI Bill, he attended Kings Business School. He was employed by Celanese Industries rising to become head of the color division.



Dorothy Washam Bartlett, his loving and devoted wife of 77 years, is left to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Philip Bartlett and son, Mark Bartlett. He is survived by one brother, Lawrence (Bud) of Tampa Fl, Sons; Baron (Kim) of Ponte Vedra, FL, Roger (Sue) of Sylva, NC, Thomas (Jan) of Waxhaw, NC and widowed daughter-in-law, Kathy Jo Bartlett. Grandchildren: Chris, Taylor, Matt, Clint, Sam, Meredith Bartlett and Leah Carpenito.  He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

Aubrey was the oldest male member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church and had served as an Elder and Deacon. In 2020 he was presented the “Bain Cain” in recognition of his lengthy membership. He was a former member of the Mint Hill Planning Board.

Aubrey was a lifelong bird hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many hours in the field hunting with his beloved setters. He loved lake and surf fishing, passing on his enthusiasm to his children and grandchildren. For many years, he and his sons spent a week each fall on the Outer Banks surf fishing, eventually including grandchildren in the adventure.

Aubrey and Dot loved to square dance and were “Merry Mint” dancers for many years, enjoying the activity and friendship of the other members.

Because of the care and attention given to him, Aubrey was able to remain in his home with Dot all his life. Special thanks and gratitude go to Ashley Waters, Judy Gaston, Kim Reynolds, Pati Hanno, Tristan Waters, and Rachel Principato. Their care provided him a better quality of life.
