Martha Evelyn Navey, 69, of Mint Hill, went home to be with Jesus and her parents on Monday, November 21, 2016, at the Brookstone Haven Care Center in Randleman, NC.
She was born in Charlotte, NC, on November 15, 1947, the daughter of Edgar Lester and Myrtle Virginia Robinson Navey. At the age of 5, she was struck by a vehicle and suffered permanent mental harm, but through life always kept the same unique smile she had as a child. Her parent’s dream was to have her back to the daughter she was before the accident, and now in the arms of her parents again, the dream has come true. Those she left behind on this earth, however, will sadly miss her.
Martha is survived by her brothers: Edgar L. Navey Jr and his wife Peggy of Mint Hill, North Carolina, and Thomas D. Navey and his wife Marcella of Olive Branch, Mississippi. She is further survived by four nephews: Edgar L. Navey III, Christopher E. Stewart, Thomas D. Navey Jr., and Ryan B. Navey, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Martha’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home, Mint Hill’s only locally owned and family operated funeral provider, the privilege of caring for them. A service to celebrate her life and homegoing was held at 11 am on Saturday, November 26, in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Loretta G. Wilson, 89, of Monroe, formerly of Mint Hill, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at PruittHealth Nursing Facility.
Born July 26, 1927 in Calhoun County, MI, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late Leon Olen Rector and Rosa Conine Rector. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Edgar Wilson; twin sister, Gertrude Hosbein and brother, Robert Rector. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her two sons, William Michael Wilson (Sheila) and David Allen Wilson (Ruth) of Mint Hill; daughter, Randy Sue Russell (Bill) of Charlotte; her three grandchildren, Michele Wilson Altenkirch (Aaron), Sean Wilson, and Cody Wilson, all of Charlotte; one great granddaughter, Alex Altenkirch of Charlotte; and her sister, Beverly Holcomb of Florida.
The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Her funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in the funeral home chapel. Entombment followed in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
