
Hazel L. Wood, 94, of Mint Hill, died Saturday, November 12, 2016. She was surrounded by family when she passed as they were blessed to have Novant Hospice providing in home care before her death.
Hazel was born on May 31, 1922, in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the daughter of the late J.R. Lewis and Emmo Stafford Lewis. She married Vance Wood, her beloved “sweetheart”, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2000. Hazel was a homemaker who loved her family and took enjoyment from singing and tending to her flowers. Above all, she loved her heavenly father, Jehovah, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Hazel is survived by her son Mike Wood of Midland and her daughter Pat (husband Carl) Flock of Mint Hill; a granddaughter Kelly Flock with great grandson Kristopher Honeycutt of Matthews; a granddaughter Carrie Flock with great grandson Torie Flock of Charlotte; and a brother, Barry Lewis of Mooresville, NC. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services honoring the life, love and blessing of Hazel were held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte.
