Billy Richard Mullis, 77, passed away on January 26, 2020, at his home in the care of Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.

He was born January 3, 1943 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late James Richard (J.R.) and Lessie Cochrane Mullis. He was a 1961 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. For more than 30 years he worked in HVAC with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and Helms Heating & Air Conditioning.

Rick was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He also enjoyed coaching girls’ softball at Matthews Athletic Association and traveling with family and friends. He was steadfast in his love for Christ and belief in God’s Word. He enjoyed fellowship with friends in the Joy Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Indian Trail.

Rick is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Rhonda Hallam and husband Scott and Angela Johnson and husband Stephen; sisters, Faydeen Wilson and Becky Little; and four grandchildren, Jessica Mudd, Brielyn Hallam, Natalie Johnson and Landon Johnson.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
