Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce announces scholarship winners

The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of this years’ Chamber sponsored scholarships.  Two students, who are residents of Mint Hill, are chosen each spring by a Chamber committee.  The College Scholarship Program, instituted by the 2014 Board of Directors, is made possible by the support of Mint Hill chamber members, the business community and the success of its annual Golf Classic.

This years’ recipients of a $1,000.00 scholarship are Stephanie Dotson, Levine Middle College High School and Jacob Pearson, Independence High School.

Stephanie Dotson

Stephanie will be attending Appalachian State University and will be majoring in Biological Anthropology and minoring in evolutionary anthropology and primatology. Stephanie writes, “I am very delighted to have been chosen to receive this scholarship and am thankful to live in a town that has a Chamber of Commerce so supportive of students’ education.”

Jacob Pearson

Jacob will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel and is currently planning on majoring in Business and minoring in Spanish. Jacob writes, “I would like to thank the selection committee for all of their time and effort put into the process as well as their decision to graciously choose me as the recipient.”

Joy Greear, President, Novant Mint Hill Medical Center and Vice President of the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce states “We are proud that a portion of the proceeds from our annual Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce golf tournament goes to support the funding for these scholarships.  As our tournament continues to grow, we hope to be able to provide even more scholarships for deserving graduates in our community.”

“The students that applied for our scholarships were exceptional,” said Paige McKinney, Chambers Executive Director. “All of the applicants were hard-working students who are active in their schools and our community and more than deserving of a college scholarship.” “We hope these scholarships help them with their continued education and wish them success in the years to come.”

“Giving scholarship awards to our graduating seniors is one of the most rewarding things we do at the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce. They are the business leaders of the future, and we need to do all we can to help them on their journey,” writes Dave Martinson owner of Create A Video and Treasurer of the Chamber.
