
Mint Hill Arts Gallery offers classes for students of all ages. Classes offered range from Drawing and Painting for elementary students to Techniques of Landscape Painting for adults. Additional classes include; Digital Photography, Chalk Pastels, Magic (Colored) Pencils, Fiber Arts and Art Enrichment for Home Schooled Students. Saturday Sampler classes are offered throughout the year giving students an opportunity to explore specific arts in a workshop setting.
Kim DiBiasio is one of the teachers at Mint Hill Arts Gallery. She is an artist, muralist and currently works with elementary school children in the Union County Public Schools After School Program. She created an art appreciation program that ran for 7 years in a local elementary school and introduced hundreds of children to a world of Masters throughout history and inspired many to become young artists.
Kim teaches art classes for elementary students in the evening and morning classes for home schooled students. She offers a unique art class that incorporates the expertise of the Master’s throughout history. Each lesson includes information about art history, art genres, artists’ styles and teaches an art project in support of each lesson. Beginning Masterpiece Moments classes provide lessons on: Elements of Art; Principles of Art; and Concepts of Art. Students are exposed to the masterpieces of famous artists such as; Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Brueghal, Vermeer, Monet, Van Gogh, and many more.
Advanced classes incorporate lessons on specific artists known throughout history and focuses on their life and ultimate style which made them famous. Among the famous artists are; O’Keeffe, Kandinsky, Klimt, Lichtenstein, Miro, Renoir and others. Students learn about Impressionism, Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism and Realism among other art genres. Students’ projects include various medium such as; watercolors, collage, print making, acrylics, markers, colored pencils, soft and oil pastels.
Above all else, Kim allows her students to have fun and enjoy making their own artwork as she guides them through the creative process. Student’s artwork is displayed at Mint Hill Arts Gallery, Mint Hill Library and Dr. Robinson’s Orthodontist Office in Mint Hill.
