
WHAT: Kickoff to Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries
Daylight saving time begins on Sunday, March 12. As everyone turns their clocks forward, the American Red Cross, Piedmont Natural Gas and the Charlotte Fire Department hope to remind people to also change their smoke alarm batteries. We will be canvassing the University Park neighborhood and installing free smoke alarms to make our neighbors’ homes and our community safer.

NOTE: Following the kickoff press conference, media are invited to join the Red Cross and our volunteer partners as we reach out to households in the neighborhood to replace smoke alarm batteries or install new smoke alarms, complete fire safety checklists and help families develop a fire escape plan.
