I’d like to report that the first baby born at Carolinas HealthCare System University in 2017 was Viraaj Melam. He was born at 5:38 a.m. on January 1, 2017. He weighs 7.4 lbs, and is 20.5 inches long.

Here is some more information:

·         The parents are Sagar and Deepika Melam.

·         They live in Charlotte, NC, and this is their first baby. They said, “He is our world now.”

·         Dr. Warren Overbey deilvered Viraaj.

·         The medical team said, “We were delighted to welcome Baby Viraaj! It was a beautiful and special delivery on the first day of the new year.”

·         Viraaj’s scheduled due date was January 4th, but his parents said their baby wanted to create a mark of his own and come on January 1st!
