Mint Hill Arts dedicated a classroom to Marta Brown recently at our covered dish dinner and elections meeting on May 29, 2018.
For many years, Marta has played an integral role in the Mint Hill Arts education program. After retiring from teaching drama in 2006, Marta knew she would continue to be involved in the arts. Marta visited one of MHA’s monthly programs and became interested in joining, even though she was not a visual artist. She volunteered to help on the Education Committee, and enjoyed giving input to the group. Marta then began offering classes in improv and scene work.
After a few years, Marta decided that her time could be better spent developing a strong MHA program. She served as the Education Director from 2012 to 2018. Marta was sad to have to resign because of health issues, but still enjoys going to MHA shows when possible. She will always hold this experience as a special chance to give back to her community and introduce children to the arts.
Marta, thank you for all you’ve done for Mint Hill Arts and arts education for children and adults in Mint Hill, and the greater Charlotte area!
