The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the first annual Tina Ross Leadership Award.
This award will be given to an individual who has positively contributed to the betterment of Mint Hill’s business community.
A qualified nomination would be a business leader who excels in the areas of leadership, growth and involvement and who is dedicated, not only to their company, but to making an impact in Mint Hill. The award is open to Chamber Members and non-members.
The award is inspired by the late Tina Ross, who served the Mint Hill community for many years in many capacities. Along with being a business owner, she was a volunteer for several committees and organizations, a teacher, and served as a Commissioner the Town of Mint Hill since 2003.
She became ill shortly after she was re-elected to another term as commissioner and passed away earlier this year.
Among her many accomplishments was her involvement with the creation of what is now the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce, she even wrote the first check.
“Tina was so good to me, this town and everyone she came to know,” said Tony Long, President of the Chamber.
“What set her apart as a business woman was her perception and insight, I don’t know how she knew just what to do or what was needed, but always seemed to just know and if she didn’t know she would find out,” Long continued. “She documented everything too, as a business person I respected her because she helped people, she was always helping others.”
Ross also helped to create the first Mint Hill Madness event, she seemed to be always be eager to help in anyway she could and was true to that in every part of her life.
“She was just inspirational because she was always positive, she was always trying to be helpful and I think she really had everybody’s best interest at heart,” said Jennifer Manchester, ambassador to the Chamber and Real Estate agent.
“Our objective is to honor her legacy because she was such a good public servant and such an integral part of the community,” Manchester added. “We wanted to have this award to honored what she did for the town of Mint Hill and what she meant to everyone.”
“Tina would come and sit with me and share from her heart and her experience,” said Paige Mckinney, Executive Director for the Chamber. “Even from her bed when she was sick she would email me just pages of her thoughts, important information and reminders. She was such a pillar of our community and I miss her so much.”
