


One of our local Army JROTC programs, at David W. Butler High School, competed this past weekend at the annual Palmetto State “Best of the Best” Raider Qualifier, held in Blythewood, South Carolina.
The Bulldogs proved to be a major force in the highly challenging events during the entire competition. The Butler Raider Team, led by First Sergeant DeVaughn performed with spirit and exceptionally well this year at the annual qualifier. The team earned two first-place and one second-place finish in the six major events against challengers from six different states and the District of Columbia. The Raider team finished in 1st Place OVERALL…in this multi-state (SC, NC, VA, WV, MD, DC) competition with 22 teams competing, the Bulldogs took multiple “Battle Streamers” in these events which include the following:
1st Place in the “Combat Litter Carry”
1st Place in the “Tactical Physical Fitness Challenge”
2nd Place in the “Tactical Rope and Knots Challenge”
3rd Place in the “Team 5K Race”
4th Place in the “Rope Bridge Construction and Crossing”
5th Place in the “HMMWV Pull” (Heavy Truck Pull)
The Raider team is a tight group of dedicated and committed cadets who strive for excellence in all endeavors while engaging in fostering strong team-building skills. Congratulations on a job well done.
