Food, Friends, and Fried Macaroni
Eager crowds turned out Friday evening for the Food Truck Rally, held at the Barking Duck in Mint Hill. Folks brought their kids, their dogs, and their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the offerings on the lawn under the mature trees. This month’s food trucks were Kabobsters, Maki Taco, Sticks and Cones, Rue 72, Mel’s BLT Kitchen, Shaved Ice, Mae’s Creole Kitchen, and Nana’s Porch.
Hungry people stood in some long lines to enjoy brisket sliders, fried macaroni, tacos, BBQ and more. “I’m so glad I can do this now in Mint Hill rather than going to Matthews,” said Kathy Raiano, enjoying a drink with her husband. Judy Fleming said, “There were so many choices, I didn’t know what to get!” Her husband Ken added, “It’s such a great way to enjoy a nice spring evening in Mint Hill. The weather is perfect and the food is great!”
Organizer David Trauner felt the event was going “incredibly well.” “I have been pushing for this for a number of years, so I am glad to see it actually happening.” He said the food trucks would be coming once a month through October. “We will have a variety of different food trucks for people to enjoy.”
