
Winners of Mint Hill Arts’ Second Annual Romie and Judy Mizell Photography Show were announced to a large, enthusiastic crowd at the opening reception for the show at the gallery on April 5. The show was open to both members and nonmembers. The 46 photographs were judged by Charlotte -based commercial photographer Rick Hovis. Theo Barbato, Gallery Chair, presented the awards, which were generously provided by Biggs Camera, Dunwellz, and First Citizens Bank.
Natalie Schopen won the First Place Award for “If You Don’t Know Where You Are Going…” Second place was awarded to James Alexander for “Golden Valley,” while Brent Joyner took third place for “Mystic Vision of the Taj Mahal.” Sam Doejaaren won Honorable Mentions for both of his entries, “Newman,” and “Key Colony.” Honorable Mentions were also awarded to April McDermott for “Shades of Blue” and to Larry Sledge for “Reflections on Roses.”
The public is invited to enjoy the show, which will hang until April 24. The gallery, located at 11205 Lawyers Road, is open weekly from 10:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M Wednesday through Saturday.
