The owners of Atlas Chiropractic in Matthews are now offering weight loss help through their recently opened Carolina Weight Loss Institute.

Both businesses, which are owned by Mary Shafer-Morris and her husband, Drew Morris, operate out of 7928 Council Place, Suite 116 in Matthews.

Last Spring, while working in Rutherford County, the couple tried the Carolina Weight Loss Institute program themselves and lost a combined 101 pounds.

They have since kept the weight off and have seen the benefit the program has been for others. They recently moved to Matthews and decided to open a Carolina Weight Loss Institute location as well as their chiropractic office in their new building, Mary Shafer-Morris said.

“We wanted to be able to offer the program to the Matthews, Mint Hill, Ballantyne, local area … the South Charlotte area,” she said.

The couple began offering Carolina Weight Loss Institute programs last week. The programs are fully individualized and focus on helping people identify what may be hampering them when it comes to losing weight and achieving their goals, she said.

“We design the program based on that individual person so that they have the best results possible,” Mary Shafer-Morris said.

With Atlas Chiropractic and Carolina Weight Loss Institute in the same building, customers are welcome to use both businesses’ services. So far various people have signed up for the Carolina Weight Loss Institute programs and many have expressed interest. With the addition of Carolina Weight Loss Institute, she and her husband hope to continue to be able to offer health and wellness solutions through both businesses and assist people in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Mary Shafer-Morris said.

“We’re really excited to add the program (Carolina Weight Loss Institute) for our existing patients and the Matthews community,” Drew Morris said.

The program is not only helpful to people who want to lose weight, but also for those who may be in chronic pain, he said.

“It’s a program that’s very sustainable long-term for patients,” Drew Morris said.
