MINT HILL, NC – In the era of COVID-19, it pays to be tough. At The CORE Sports Performance, toughness is always a crucial component of the program’s myriad training offerings.

At The CORE Sports Performance, “We are highly invested in our members to see them excel in whatever sport they play,” says Audrey Toscano-Davis, aka “Coach Audrey.”

“We place a high value on being a leader, so we drill that into our athletes daily. We also emphasize the importance of being mentally tough on and off the field to push through and succeed at whatever you put your mind to.”

Toscano-Davis and her husband, Donovan “Coach D” Davis, are the owners of The CORE (Challenging Ourselves Reaching Excellence) Sports Performance on Fairview Road. Both have extensive backgrounds in sports. Davis, a North Greenville University graduate, was a defensive back for the NCAA Division II North Greenville Crusaders in South Carolina. He is CORE Sports Performance’s lead trainer and coach.

Toscano-Davis is also a North Greenville University international-business grad who earned an MBA from Pfeiffer University. She once led the North Greenville Lady Crusaders basketball team in scoring and rebounding.

Now, the couple operates “a fitness facility for all ages and all stages. Whatever your fitness level may be and no matter your age, you fit right in at our gym,” says Toscano-Davis.

“Prior to COVID, we had a 4- to 6-year-old class that we called our little CORE athletes, but we haven’t opened that back up yet. Our adult class is very diverse and includes clients with many different fitness backgrounds including previous athletes, grandparents, stay-at-home moms, and physical labor workers.”

Currently, Davis and Toscano-Davis offer “‘camp training’ that aligns with the governor’s executive order to shelter-in-place. We keep our classes small and sanitize in between classes while trying to manage clients not using the same equipment. We also try to do a lot of training outside in the parking lot or at Mint Hill Veterans park.” Training is also provided via Zoom (live or recorded).
