CHARLOTTE – Tacora Woods is Mint Hill’s up and coming favorite local photographer. Her business, Tacora Creates Studios, is ready to meet every artistic need a family may want or need. “Whether a client is looking to capture a family portrait, milestone moments of a child, or a celebratory birthday shoot, I know one of my sessions can meet any request,” Woods confidently shares.
When she decided to take a photography class in college, Woods inadvertently found a new love. “Learning to create with a camera gave me such joy! I would work to develop film, both physical and digital, for hours,” she recalls. Woods’ passion for all the elements of art still play a big role in her business. “I always have a vision in my mind of what a session can be – what it can include,” she explains.
Woods puts all her skills to work to create one-of-a-kind sets, props, and photos. “I love to have my hand in a little bit of everything when it comes to being creative,” she says. Woods believes it is this personal touch that sets her apart. “I can truly make your photo shoot whatever a client wants it to be. And my clients have some really creative ideas.” Woods knows in the age of Instagram, originality is very high on her clients’ wish lists. Woods is always ready and excited to meet the challenge. Currently, she is working to make Life-size Barbie products for a client’s Sweet 16 photo shoot. “I love building sets,” she says. “It gives me a chance to use all my creative skills. Ultimately, I want to give more than just a photo. I want to give a piece of art.”
Woods has worked tirelessly for ten years to achieve her artistic goals. Now she has a full-service studio that can meet anyone’s photo and video needs. “I love working with individuals, but Tacora Creates Studios really is an all-in-one company,” says Woods. “I can shoot commercials, design business logos, create social media websites, take headshots, and do product photography for a restaurant menu. I also cover engagement sessions, wedding videos and photos, as well as produce reels for Instagram Stories. I can put together a package for any idea a client can throw my way.”
Her studio location is also a chance for Woods to guarantee a successful photography session. “Variety and control are important. In my studio the traditional setting of a regular session is easy to achieve. However, it’s really my clients I’m focused on,” Woods shares. “A family photo lasts forever, and the memories associated with it last just as long. It is paramount for me that one of my sessions is remembered for three things: a patient photographer, great photos, and a good time.”
Eventually, Woods says she would love to expand her business to include other artistic endeavors. “I want to offer photography classes, wine and paint parties, and a creative space to rent for an outlet,” she says. “I want to encourage a love of all things artistic in my neighbors.” Woods’ love for Mint Hill shines through as she shares her enthusiasm for her community. “Mint Hill is my downtown. I love to get that homey ‘Hallmark’ vibe when I travel to my studio or to some other location for a photo shoot. I feel like every one of my clients becomes a friend. I love being here and being local.”
Tacora Creates Studios is now booking December photoshoots. And with a wealth of ideas like Woods behind the lens, a family Christmas photo is sure to be one of a kind. Woods is working diligently to create several scene options so she can ensure a great season. “Each client is like their own mix of creativity and art. I love to figure out how I can give a splash of each family in their photos,” Woods smiles.
