Stallions Sweep Bradford Prep 19-7, Come Home For Senior Day win 15-0

MINT HILL, NC – The Lady Stallions fastpitch softball team continues to roll scoring 34 runs in two consecutive ball games against the Bradford Prep Bears. They outscored their conference opponent 34-7, while extending their 3 game winning streak and improving their season record to 7-1.

On the road in the first ball game, the Stallions accumulated 19 runs on 26 hits to dominate the Bears. Super sophomore Sydney Reynolds went 4-5 with 4 RBI’s. She slammed a home run her second of the season, added a double, and had a steal. Another sophomore Carson Ouimet went 3-6 with 5 RBI’s, she drilled a double and added 3 stolen bases. Senior Nicole Azar went 2-2 with 2 steals and 2 walks, Abi Sawyer 3-6 with 2 RBI’s, a double, and a steal. Serafina Perrotti 2-3 with 2 RBI’s, Gracie Mallow 2-3, and contributed 2 RBI’s. Freshman  Kayla Purdy 3-6 with 5 RBI’s and added a triple. She also pitched 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 4 walks, 6 strikeouts, while giving up two home runs in the contest.

Now back home at the Corral for Senior Day the Lady Stallions ran wild on the Bears by scoring 6 runs in the first inning, and 9 runs in the second frame. Pitcher Abi Sawyers did not allow a run, gave up 2 singles while striking out 6 batters to get her third win of the season without suffering a loss.

Sawyers led the offense going 3-3 with 4 RBI’s including a first-inning home run. Junior catcher Natalie Megale went 2-2 with 4 RBI’s. Serafina Perrotti, added a double for 2 RBI’s, Sydney Reynolds added a double for an RBI, Mackenzie Inman worked 3 bases on balls and picked up an RBI, including a steal, and freshman Ana Couch went 1-1, she batted in a run for the Lady Stallions in the shutout.

Coach Don Nicholas is very proud of this team. “They have worked hard, the girl’s chip away, we play a combination of small ball and long ball, we bunt, steal bases, play an aggressive style, and our pitching is coming together,” said Coach Nicholas.

The Stallions will play Union Academy on Tuesday, April 20 at the Corral, and then take on the undefeated Pac 7-1A Conference leader Mountain Island on Wednesday, April 21.
