Inside Your Home

Get your home springtime-ready with a cleaning from Bless This Mess Cleaning Solutions!

Nothing says “Welcome Spring” like a sparkling clean home!  Before you open those windows and let in the fresh air, Dawn Sobel of Bless This Mess Cleaning Solutions has an important tip:  “When you open your windows for the first time this season, it is important to take a rag and clean the window tracks.  You may notice mold and mildew there, and if you don’t wipe it away, the air will blow the spores into your home, which can worsen allergies.  Take a damp cloth and wipe the tracks clean before you air out your home.”  Bless This Mess is a dynamic cleaning company owned by Dawn and Eric Sobel, which started in 2018 and offers full house cleanings, move-in, and move-out cleanings, as well as construction clean-outs.  For more information on Bless This Mess Cleaning Solutions, please visit blessthismesscleaningsolutions.com or call (704) 389-0296.

Top Five Natural Cleaning Hacks For Your Home

  1. Use a lemon to remove water stains.  To make your sink faucets sparkle, rub a lemon half on the water stains.  The citric acid helps remove hard watermarks.
  2. Heat lemon juice and rinds to clean your microwave.  Cut a lemon into halves and squeeze the juice into ½ cup of water.  Add the rinds to the mixture.  Microwave for three minutes.  Let stand for five minutes without opening the door.  The steam will loosen the grime allowing you to remove built-up grime with ease.
  3. Tackle shower head buildup with white vinegar.  Fill a plastic ziplock back with white vinegar and secure it over the showerhead with a rubber band.  Leave the vinegar in place overnight.  The vinegar dissolves the mineral deposits that build up on showerheads over time.  Be sure to run the shower for a few minutes after removing the mixture to get rid of the vinegar residue.
  4. Use white vinegar and newspaper to clean dirty windows and mirrors.  Mix ¼ cup white vinegar, 2 cups water, and 2 teaspoons of liquid soap into a spray bottle.  Spray liberally on the glass and scrub with newspaper for a streak-free shine.
  5. Use cream of tartar to clean toasters, tea kettles, and steel appliances.  Mix 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar with just enough water to create a milky paste.  Rub the solution on your stainless steel appliances and wipe away to reveal a sparkling shine.

Don’t Forget The Nitty Gritty

Toilet Troubles? Call FATMan plumbing at 704-256-1400 for help!

Chris Lovick of FATman Plumbing Pro has a tip that can save you hundreds of dollars for those troubling plumbing issues around your home.  “If your toilets are bubbling and you feel that your main line is stopped up, do not call a plumber,” says Lovick.  “First, call the city sewer and water department and have them check their side of the piping.  This is a free service because you already pay for the maintenance in your bill.  If you’re not on city sewer and you’re using a septic tank, call your septic tank man first.  Septic tanks need to be pumped out every 5 to 7 years for good maintenance.”  Still, need a plumber?  Contact FATman Plumbing Pro for fast and reliable service at (704) 256-1400 or visit fatmanplumbingpro.com for more information.

Outside Your Home

Spring Cleaning should extend to the exterior of your home as well.  Action Lawn Care offers free estimates for its full outdoor lawn care, landscaping, and outdoor living structures such as patios, decks, pergolas, and walkways.  The business, founded by Robert Parks in 1997, suggests that homeowners get full maintenance scheduled as soon as possible.  This maintenance includes leaf removal, pruning of shrubbery, fertilizer for lawn and shrubs, and weed control.  It is especially important to get your weed control started right away before the weeds have a chance to germinate.  For more information, please contact Action Lawn Care at (704) 560-0052 or visit them on the web at action-lawn-care-inc.business.site.

Don’t forget your gutters when sprucing up for Spring!  ABS Insulating and Gutter Company, which has been in business for 30 years, offers gutter cleanouts where all gutters are blown out by a machine, spout areas are cleaned by hand, and the debris is hauled away.  They also install gutters and seamless gutters and offer gutter protection in mesh, microfiber, and aluminum.  For more information contact ABS Insulating Company at (704) 821-4343 or visit them on the web at absinsulating.com for a free estimate and more information.

Prestige House Washing before and after a pressure washing.

The outside of your home can get just as dirty as the inside.  Consider pressure washing this spring to remove dirt and mold.  Prestige House Washing, owned by Brian Gavan and Michael Leardi, offers a soft wash exterior of the home with low pressure that causes less damage.  They use environmentally safe and biodegradable cleaners and will wash all gutters, window frames, door frames, and columns in addition to the siding.  They have over 25 years of experience and also can pressure wash concrete, brick, driveways, patios, and even patio furniture.  They recommend getting your house washed at least once per year and advise that the North side of your home will often show the most dirt and mold due to lack of sun.  Leaving the dirt and mold in place can cause permanent damage to your home’s exterior.  For more information, please contact Prestige House Washing at (704) 312-0838 or visit them on the web at prestigehousewashing.com.  You can also follow the company on social media on Facebook at Prestige House Washing and on Instagram @prestigehousewashing.
