MINT HILL, NC – With Father’s Day just around the corner, you may have questions about activities, food, and gifts to help show Dad just how much he means to you. The town of Mint Hill stands ready to give you answers for even the most “hard to shop for” Pop.
Actually, my Dad’s pretty easy to shop for, because he’s into the classic “Dad stuff,” like golf.
Awesome! There are three public golf courses in the Mint Hill area. All three will be open on Father’s Day.

Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation has daily tee times available for reservations from 7:27 in the morning until 5:27 at night. You can book a spot for Dad up to 7 days in advance. Go online to www.oldesycamoregolf.com or you can call the Pro Shop at (704) 573-1000 to speak with Greg, Clayton, or Roy about the best time of day to play there. Nobody knows the course better than its pros.
The Divide Golf Club will also be open for Dad on Father’s Day. They will be running some Golf Shop sales ahead of time. You can make sure Dad has the shoes, clubs and other accessories he needs for a fun afternoon. Book an appointment online at www.thedividegolfclub.com or call (704) 628-6438 and ask for Jerry, Mike, or Boyd to help you out. They can schedule tee times from 6:30 am until 7:00 pm and can help you find just what Dad needs to achieve an “A” game.
If Dad doesn’t have time for a full round of 18 holes, Charles T. Myers Golf Course is a great course to play for just an hour or two. Tee times can be booked every eight minutes. Its greens are ideal for golfers of any age and experience level. You can call their staff at (704) 536-1692 or book a time online at golfnow.com.
My Dad likes the outdoors, but golf is not really his game.
No problem! The Mint Hill area has several parks that will guarantee Dad can get some outdoor time and activities.
Why not make it a family outing? Pack a picnic lunch and head over to the Park on Wilgrove. This park features natural trails, tennis courts, and a playground. Dad can relax in the shade of a pavilion and enjoy the fresh air while the kids climb the rock wall and play on the swing set.
If your Dad’s a little more active, Idlewild Road Park boasts one of the most diverse frisbee golf courses in the area. Enjoy the outdoors as you walk The Scrapyard Course wth 18 holes with concrete tees, and even a water trap or two to challenge Dad’s skill level. The course wanders in and out of shaded areas and has restrooms and water fountains available for your day.
If 18 holes sounds a little too intimidating, Veteran’s Memorial Park features a 9-hole course. A little less wild, the fairways are mostly open with rolling terrains that are defined by tree edges.
All this activity sounds like it will help my Dad work up an appetite.
No kidding. It will probably make him thirsty, too. There’s plenty of great restaurants to choose from in Mint Hill, and several of them are locally owned.

Vintner’s Bistro, Suite 108 at 7427 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, is a great place to grab a meal and drinks on Father’s Day. They’ve recently added a brunch menu that includes delicious breakfast skillets. There’s no reservation needed to stop in and try their wine or beer flights. They also offer gift cards so Dad can enjoy their upscale atmosphere any time he wants.
Another Mint Hill staple, Dunwellz, will be open on Father’s Day, too. At this gastropub in the Brighton Park Shopping Center, Dad can enjoy a casual atmosphere and watch any sport he likes on one of their large TV screens. They will also be running their full Sunday Special Drink Menu including $3 Miller Lite and Coors Lite, $4 Seasonal NC Brewery Bottles, $5 Dunwellz Drops, and $6 Bloody Marys. Plus, kids always eat for half-off on Sundays.
CharBar No. 7 on Town View Drive is another great place to eat a meal and catch a Sunday game. Their outdoor patio is the perfect blend of comfort and style. They will also be running drink specials for Dads: $4.50 Bloody Marys and Mimosas and $3.25 Miller Lites. They don’t require reservations and are ready to help you and Dad make the most of his day.
What if it’s a little too crowded for my Dad?
That’s understandable. It’s super important to protect the guy who loves to protect you. Fortunately, you don’t need to sit in a restaurant for your meal. The food at all the places mentioned can be taken to go. Plus, Mint Hill has a couple of other places that are currently doing Take-Out only.

Big Guys Pizza has a wide variety of menu items available for delivery or pick Up at 6914 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. They’re offering their full menu: pizzas, chicken dinners, veal dishes, sandwiches, salads, and other mouth-watering Italian classics. Everything on their menu is made from scratch, fresh in the store, so you know it’s gonna be delicious. Call (704) 545-1770 to order a hero sandwich for the heroic Dad in your life.
Pour64 in the Mint Hill Village is another great option if Dad’s a beer connoisseur. Although they won’t be open on Father’s Day, they offer curbside pick up Tuesday through Saturday. You can view their amazing selections at pour64.com/beer or you can call (980) 585-1051 to place an order.
Take out does sound like a good idea. My Dad is just wanting to hang around the house for Father’s Day.

Sounds great! To help him out with what he loves to do at home, you should stop by Monroe Hardware at the Mint Hill Festival Shopping Center. They are a one-stop “Dad heaven” shop and a great place to pick up a gift. They carry fishing gear, tools and other handyman supplies, bird feed and feeders, and more. They are running deals on Big Green Egg and Weber grills plus all the grilling accessories Dad needs to prove he is the ultimate “grill master.” They even carry fun outdoorsy clothing styles for Dad to enjoy while he is doing what he loves to do best. They will be closed on Sunday, June 20th, but you can pick up your Father’s day fun from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm any other day of the week.
All those gifts sound great, but my Dad is more the “indoorsy” type.
That makes sense. Summer is coming in hot this year. Several Mint Hill businesses have you covered when it comes to other gift ideas for Dad.

In the same shopping center as Monroe Hardware, you can find Your Local Game Store. This place features every type of board game you and Dad could want to play. Whether he is a history buff or a science fiction geek, you can buy a great gift for Dad here. Although the store won’t be open for the Sunday of Father’s Day, they have reopened for free play at one of their game tables until 10:00 pm on Saturday evenings. They also have a unique game rental program. You and Dad can rent a game of your choice for one whole week and you only pay 10% of the game’s cost to try it out before you buy it.
There’s also a great Father’s Day morning to be had at 11025 Monroe Road. Stop by Your Mom’s Donuts for a delicious homemade dozen then head next door to A Pennyworth’s Comic shop, which opens at noon on Sundays. They offer a wide variety of trade paperbacks, graphic novels, and collectibles that will make the long forgotten superhero awaken in Dad’s heart. The owner, Tony, is ready to answer any questions you or your Dad may have about his variety of artwork, figurines, and comics.
Another great option for a truly special gift is an original video slideshow featuring your favorite superhero: Dad. Clint and Sheri with Create-A-Video at 8300 Fairview Road in Mint Hill have been making all family occasions special for over 20 years. You can provide family movies and pictures to them. They will mix those memories to Dad’s favorite songs then add titles and effects to create a truly one-of-a-kind gift he will treasure for years to come.

Another unique gift idea Create-A-Video can provide is an original photo mosaic poster. Go to createavideo.com/photomosaic-prints to upload your family photos and enter the code 25DAD to get 25% off your poster purchase. Create-A-Video also can give new electronic life to all the old LPs, 8-track tapes, cassettes, or VHS tapes that Dad hasn’t had the heart to get rid of yet.
Wow! These are some great ideas! Thanks!
Absolutely! You see, there is no shortage of options in Mint Hill to make this year’s Father’s Day one for the books. Mint Hill is a great place to find ways to make Dad feel appreciated long past June 20th.
