MINT HILL, NC – You may have loads of Halloween candy left and just be starting to plan your Thanksgiving dinner, but as the calendar switches to November, it’s already time to think about holiday shopping!  Support local small businesses and get a head start on your shopping at three holiday marketplaces happening this weekend right in Mint Hill.

Christmas in the Village
Mint Hill Historical Village | Saturday, November 12 | 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

For the second year, the Mint Hill Farmer’s Market will host Christmas in the Village.  Around 90 vendors will be set up throughout Mint Hill’s Historic Village selling handcrafted items such as home decor, jewelry, baked goods, soaps and much more.  Like October’s Autumn Jubilee, all items sold at Christmas in the Village must be home-grown or homemade.

In addition to opportunities to shop local vendors, Christmas in the Village promises entertainment for the whole family.  Twisted Creations – the same balloon artist that wowed kids and parents alike at the Autumn Jubilee – will be back with more amazing creations.  Red Barn is bringing their Chick-fil-A cow for people to visit and take photographs with.  Children will also be able to write letters to Santa and color Christmas-themed pictures.  Best of all, word has it that Santa Claus himself will visit between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm!

The event’s main food vendor will be Sweets and Savories by JoyMarie, who will have breakfast and lunch sandwiches and desserts available.  Also available will be Mint Hill’s famous hot dogs, funnel cakes, popcorn and smoothies.  Local taproom Pour 64 will be on site from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm along with Monroe-based brewery Americana Brewing.

Blair Road UMC Annual Christmas Marketplace

For holiday shopping for a good cause, head about a mile and a half down the street from the Historic Village to Blair Road United Methodist Church’s Annual Christmas Marketplace.  Blair Road UMC will welcome over 40 vendors to its Family Life Center selling wood crafts, paper crafts, stained glass, dog toys, hand-painted Christmas ornaments, jewelry, embroidery, stoneware, pottery, and just about anything else you can think of.  Like Christmas in the Village, all items at Blair Road UMC’s Annual Christmas Marketplace must be handmade.

The Annual Christmas Marketplace has been a tradition at the church for about seven years; prior to that, they hosted a craft show supported by the United Methodist Women.  Over the years, the marketplace has grown into the event it is now.

All proceeds from the Marketplace will go to support the many missions and youth projects that the United Methodist Men are behind here at Blair Road, like the Bookbags of Love mission, the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts here at Blair Road UMC, the One7 Mission and feeding the homeless at the Uptown Men’s Shelter every quarter,” explained Al Millman, President of the Blair Road United Methodist Men.  “The Methodist Men will be having our annual Barbeque during the Marketplace; we will have Plates, sandwiches and ‘buy it by the pound.’ We are also having a wonderful bake sale.”

Fall Bazaar

Continue your local shopping on Sunday with a visit to the Sunflower Club Cafe.  Sunflower Club’s second annual Fall Bazaar promises gifts and crafts handmade by local artists at a family-friendly event filled with fun and fellowship.  Vendors so far include painters, personalized crafts, holiday decorations, ornaments, wreaths, natural beauty products, baked goods, essential oils and handmade jewelry in addition to a few local businesses.

On stage will be live music, worship music, and – back for the second year in a row – the ever-popular Chicken Beauty Pageant!  The fight for the most beautiful chicken will commence at 2:00 pm.  Register your chicken ahead of time at or come to the bazaar and enter by 12:00 pm.

In addition to serving up delicious waffles and beverages, The Sunflower Club is also an Outreach that provides a helping hand to families and individuals in need of food or supportive services.  There will also be BBQ for purchase on Sunday to raise money for the Sunflower Outreach.
