MINT HILL, NC – On Tuesday, September 21, the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce held its Monthly Member Luncheon at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.  A lunch of salad, baked ziti and garlic knots was provided by Chamber Member Big Guy’s Pizza.

September’s lunch program kicked off with a welcome from Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paige McKinney.  Vice President Rick Peniston (Peniston Deason Attorneys at Law) led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Chamber Liaison and County Commissioner Mike Cochrane led the group in prayer.

Four people introduced themselves as new or visiting members: Andy Benedict from ESPG, Randi Finnegan and Elizabeth Lindgren from Cadence Senior Living, Dr. Ashley Dawson from Dawson Modern Dentistry, and Amy Salvatore from the Sunflower Club Cafe.

Also in attendance at Tuesday’s luncheon were Mayor Brad Simmons, Mayor Pro Tem Dale Dalton, Chamber Liaison and Commissioner Mike Cochrane, and Commissioner Tony Long.  Mayor Simmons reminded everyone that there’s still time to give your input on the town’s comprehensive land use plan.  Make your voice heard at https://buff.ly/3qHdf9g.

The Chamber welcomed several new members this month: Mint Hill Wealth Management, The Sunflower Club Cafe, Dawson Modern Dentistry, MOMS Club of Mint Hill, and Southern Perfection by Corey.

This month’s featured speaker was Jodie Dupree from Dignity Memorial and McEwen Funeral Home.  Dupree offered candid advice on the importance of preplanning your final arrangements.  “The only people that really enjoy talking about funerals work at funeral homes,” admitted Dupree, “but if a death occurred last night, what would you do today?”  Look for practical advice from Dupree about how you can save your loved ones from the stress and financial hardship of making decisions about your final arrangements in an upcoming issue of the Mint Hill Times.

The next big event coming up for the Chamber of Commerce is the 3rd Annual Cornhole Tournament sponsored by Hawthorne’s Pizza.  The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 16, at Pour 64.  There are still places available to play or sponsor a team.  The event will feature raffles, live music and food trucks; all proceeds support the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce College Scholarship Program.  The Chamber also encourages everyone to get out and enjoy all the Town-sponsored events happening in October: the Annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest, Tina Ross Afternoon in the Park, and Mint Hill Madness.

The next Monthly Member Luncheon will be held on October 19 at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.  For more information on joining the Chamber of Commerce, visit https://www.minthillchamberofcommerce.com/.
