Quilt Sew Easy held its Grand Opening on Saturday, September 16.

In addition to opening its doors, Quilt Sew Easy also opened registration for its first quilting and sewing classes. The “Easy Peasy” class planned for September 30 was by far the most popular and was filled to capacity well before the store closed for the day. Participants will leave the 6-hour beginner class with a multifunctional lap-sized quilt. Response for the “Easy Peasy” class was so overwhelming that owner Beth Huneycutt has already added a second class on October 7.

The “Easy Peasy” quilt will utilize a “charm pack,” which consists of 42 pre-cut, 5-inch squares of coordinating fabric. “A lot of the quilts that I’ll be making and teaching are out of the pre-cuts,” says Huneycutt, who aims to make quilting accessible to everyone. “That’s what makes it so much fun is you don’t have to deal with all the pieces and get overwhelmed by everything you have to cut. You can just start sewing, and they’re coordinated fabrics, you don’t have to worry about what goes with what.”

Quilt Sew Easy stocks many pre-cuts like the “charm packs” used to make the “Easy Peasy” quilt.

Quilt Sew Easy offers several different packages of pre-cut fabrics. “Layer Cakes” consist of 42 coordinating 10-inch squares. “Jelly Rolls,” which will be used in the four-part “Easy Quilt Class” to make the Ladies Luncheon quilt, is a roll of 42 2.5-inch strips of fabric. In addition to pre-cuts, the store also has a selection of fabrics by the yard as well as sewing notions and quilting accessories.

Quilt Sew Easy’s Grand Opening drew a large crowd with Honeycutt estimating that over 50 people had already been through the store by midday. “I’m so excited for Beth,” says mother Anne Maynard who was staffing the register Saturday. “She is so excited, and she has just had a heart for quilting for probably a couple of years now, but she finally put some legs to it!”

Maynard admits she never took to quilting like her own mother. “See, but we didn’t have everything cut for you and done for you,” says Maynard, who recently made the “Easy Peasy” quilt with Huneycutt. “I mean, you can make a quilt in two and a half hours!”

Quilt Sew Easy is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Visit their Facebook page to view daily deals and class offerings.
