Player Of The Week Zion Mcduffie

MINT HILL, NC – The Butler Bulldogs Zion Mcduffie certainly has earned recognition for his performance this week and throughout the entire season for the Dawgs.

The junior combination forward and the guard is one of the top players in 4A Conference 59. He is a talented athlete who will be competing at the next level.



In the first game of the week against Providence, he scored 27 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, for a double-double, including 3 blocks and 1 steal to lead the Dawgs to another huge conference win. On Friday night against arch rival Independence, he demolished the Patriots with an outstanding effort in the Dawgs rout playing about 75% of the game. He scored 16 points, pulled down 9 rebounds, and had 2 blocks in the contest. He was a force under the boards along with another junior teammate Peyton Scott. These two young men along with sophomore Tyler Showalter are going to be dangerous next season for the Dawgs.

Mcduffie is averaging 17.6 points per game, 6.9 rebounds, 2.8 steals, 1.9 blocks on the season. He is in the top 5 in many categories among the leaders. Most notably ranked 4th in scoring with 351 points, first in steals with 55, second in blocks with 37. He has accumulated 5 double-doubles which ranks him 2nd in the conference.

A truly good athlete with a lot of upside potential. The Mint Hill Times sports writers would like to congratulate Zion Mcduffie for being selected this week’s “Player of the Week.”
