MINT HILL, NC – The Butler Bulldog was selected this weeks Player of the Week based on her outstanding performance to lead her team over the Independence Patriots to propel the underdogs into the championship game against the Providence Panthers.
Brown went 4-4 with three base hits, including a 2 run home run to lead the offense. She picked up 3 RBIs, and scored 3 times in the ball game which turned out to be an upset 9-5 victory. Probably the biggest game of the season to date for the Butler Bulldogs, certainly one of their most emotional.
The senior slugger also had an excellent final season and deserves some recognition for her on the field performance and sportsmanship. She has accumulated .585 BA, 29 runs scored, 27 RBIs, 31 hits, 8 doubles, 2 triples, and has hammered 6 home runs. She packs a solid .657 OBP, SLG% 1.094, along with a 1.751 OPS.
She is among the top Southwestern 4A Conference players, and is the emotional leader of the Bulldogs softball club.
The Mint Hill Times sports writers want to congratulate senior Demya Brown for being nominated our Player of the Week.
