
The senior at Queen’s Grant High School had himself a huge week on the baseball diamond which clearly earned him the recognition of being selected as this week’s Player of the Week.
In a loss to Corvian he lead the offense by going 3-4, 1 RBI, and 1 steal for the Stallions. Then he followed up with another 3-4, 1 BB, 5 runs, and smacked 3 home runs all grand slams accumulating 13 RBI’s in an explosion against the Sugar Creek Wildcats.
During the season he is packing .559 BA, 19 hits, 6 steals, 6 BB, 31 RBI’s, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, with a .625 OBP, 1.118 SLG%, 1.743 OPS. He is fielding at a solid .826 on 46 attempts, along with being involved in 3 double plays from his shortstop position with 13 putouts. While on the mound, he has a 1-0 record, 4.20 ERA, 8 strikeouts, with opponents hitting .270 OBA, while tossing 184 pitches in 8.1 innings pitched mostly in relief making a positive contribution in a comfortable role.
In the North Carolina Class 1A West Baseball rankings Duran is ranked 1st in RBI’s, Tied for 2nd in home runs, 2nd in SLG%, 4th in BA, and 5th in OBP, making him among the top tier performers in the state in Class 1A competition.
