MINT HILL, NC – On Tuesday night the Independence Patriots traveled to Myers Park HighSchool to start the final week of the 2021 baseball season. The game was originally scheduled for Monday night but was postponed due to rain.

Myers Park answered in the bottom on the third inning. Luke Barbarykaled off for the Mustangs and drew a walk and later stole second. Luke Metzler came to the plate and bunted back to the mound. Indy’s pitcher Carson Gesing almost injured himself diving for the ball, but he made the catch for the out.

The Mustang’s next batter was called out for batter interference at the plate. Reece Perry followed and hit a ground ball to Indy’s second baseman who committed a throwing error to first. Not only was Perry safe on the error, the errant throw also scored Barbaryke to tie the score 1-1. Jake Hasner came to the plate and singled to left field to score Reece and give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead.

Neither team could not manage any more runs, and Myers Park took the win to remain tied for first place in the conference.
