
MINT HILL, NC – Prior to the start of Thursday’s night game, Independence recognized its seniors and their parents. The Patriots said farewell to Brandon and Taylor Moser, Joseph Minaya, Wilson Lohrer, Carson Gesing, and BraydenPimental.

Myers Park’s Daniel Shuta led off with a walk and stole second base. Shuta attempted to come home on a passed ball. But Indy’s PJ Chilesrecovered the ball and threw it to Wilson Lohrer, who was covering home and made the tag for the out. However, Indy walked two Mustang’sbatters with both scorings on a Thomas Bolt single to center field to take a 2-0 lead after a half of an inning.
The Patriots scored their only run in the bottom half of the first inning. Taylor Moser led off with a walk and stole second. Carson Gesing blasted a double to left field to score Moser to make the score 2-1 with the mustangs leading after one full inning.
The Mustangs added their third run in the top of the second and added two more runs in the fifth inning to take the conference win 5-1 and finish the regular season and staying tied for first place with an 11-1 record.
Independence finished the season with a conference record of 6-6.
