MINT HILL, NC – On Friday, July 29, Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation celebrated 25 years in the community!

Owner BV Belk broke ground and started construction on Olde Sycamore’s golf course on December 1, 1995. Award-winning architect Tom Jackson was brought in and used the natural lay of the land to create the 6,900 yard championship layout that winds through the natural setting of mature oak trees, scenic lakes and tree-lined fairways.
Olde Sycamore’s golf course was completed December 31, 1996. When it opened for business on April 1, 1997, it was recognized as the “Best New Course” and “Best Eastside Course” in the Queen City by Charlotte’s Best magazine. Today, Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation offers the premier golfing experience in our area. Olde Sycamore is a semi- private golf course that is open to the public and has a small and elite membership.

“We host around 100 charity golf tournaments each year and have also become a go-to place for fundraising events, luncheons, weddings, private parties, celebrations of life and even proms for the people of our community,” says Membership & Events Director Gretchen Schindler. “In addition to the events we host, the Olde Sycamore Bar and Grill is open daily for lunch.”
“We really enjoy the food at Olde Sycamore Clubhouse, love the ‘Freaky Friday’ specials,” says Olde Sycamore resident Hope Groccia. “Pizza is always a favorite – our go-to on Friday nights. Chef does a great job. The atmosphere is fun, nice, low key, and service is great. Happy to have this in our neighborhood!”
“We love eating outside in their patio and it’s a great space to bring kids,” adds Jamie DeStefano. “Their chef is wonderful and is very accommodating! They even started carrying vegan cheese so that we could have a variety of options!” DeStefano’s husband also enjoys the golf course, which he calls “fun but challenging,” especially the beautiful view from the ninth hole!

“The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce enjoys a wonderful relationship with Olde Sycamore, who is a charter member of the Chamber,” says Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paige McKinney. “We hold our monthly member luncheons in the clubhouse, and Gretchen and her team always hit it out of the park with their food offerings and service. We’re looking forward to holding our 10th Annual Golf Classic there on September 14.”

To celebrate 25 years in the community, Olde Sycamore offered a 25% discount on select merchandise in the Pro Shop, purchases at the Bar and Grill, and rounds of golf on Friday, July 29. They also hosted a celebration at the clubhouse featuring a DJ, dancing, hors d’oeurves, drink specials, raffles and giveaways.
Olde Sycamore frequently holds events like July’s Summer Wine Tasting featuring five food and wine pairings by Chef Dan or the upcoming Blood Drive, which will place One Blood’s “Big Red Bus” in the clubhouse parking lot from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 2. Many people may not realize that all of these events – as well as the golf course and the Bar and Grill – are open to the public! Make sure to follow Olde Sycamore on social media to keep up on the latest events.
