MINT HILL, NC – It’s that time of year when the smell of freshly cut grass, the neatly trimmed baseball diamond, the sound of the hardball meeting with leather gloves, the crack of the bat, the popping sound of a fastball into the catcher’s mitt, and the umpire pointing out to the mound saying play ball is upon us. So this first week of action we will focus on the Indy baseball team who is now 3-1 in the early going this season.

Player of the Week: 



Nick Reddish – The Indy freshman with potential had himself a game against local Queen’s Grant High School smacking a double to the left-center field wall, and with his next at-bat crushed a grand slam home run deep over the 360 foot fence into straight away center field. He collected 5 RBI’s in the baseball game, and has a team-leading 6 RBI’s in the early going. He has an OBP of 0.677, SLG 1.200, OPS 1.867, BA .400.

Honorable Mention: 

Cole Coates – The senior leader has combined pitching and timely hitting for the Patriots. He has hurled 5 innings allowing 1 earned run, has 2 BB, 2 strikeouts, with a 1.75 ERA. At the plate he has a BA .556, 5 hits, 3 RBI’s, and 2 doubles. An OBP 0.600, SLG 0.777, OPS 1.378 with 2 stolen bases.

Brian Crowder – The sophomore outfielder is posting a Batting Average .600, OBP 0.600, SLG 1.200, OPS 1.800, he has driven in 2 RBI’s, along with two extra base hits a double and triple to date.

Frankie Jones, Jr. – The sophomore is off to a fast start. In the leadoff position the speedster has an inside the park home run to his credit. His BA .500, 6 hits, 2 RBI’s, 1 triple, and 3 stolen bases. Also, he carries a solid OBP 0.571, SLG 0.961, OPS 1.488 for Indy.
