This weekend will mark the 36th Annual Mint Hill Madness. The three-day event will take place May 24 to 26 at Veteran’s Park located at 8850 Fairview Road.
All-You-Can-Ride Wristbands will be available for the carnival rides Friday ONLY for $20.
The opening ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday.
There will be many entertainment acts on the main stage throughout the event. The headliners include Kids in America on Friday night and Tuesday’s Gone, a Lynyard Skynyrd Tribute band on Saturday. The event also includes a DJ and even a magic show on Sunday afternoon.
The parade Saturday morning will begin at 9 a.m. at Bain School and travel down Matthews-Mint Hill Rd. ending at the library. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. There are more than 60 entries. Make sure you get there early as Matthews-Mint Hill Road will close at 8:30 a.m.
This year, the Fireworks Extravaganza will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday.
“Our fireworks show is absolutely amazing. People come from all around just to see it,” said Julien Venable, a long time volunteer and previous vendor for the event. “It’s the largest Memorial Day fireworks display in the Southeast!”
Several food vendors will be in attendance selling everything from BBQ, Mediterranean, Corn Dogs to kettle corn, ice cream and of course, funnel cakes. There will be a multitude of vendors for attendees to browse and shop.
“An incredible amount of work goes into pulling off Mint Hill Madness. The Town of Mint Hill and a fantastic group of dedicated volunteers come together each year to make it a success. It’s amazing to be part of the process and then to see how all of that hard work pays off by giving the community a great event to enjoy,” said Sheryl Smith, Assistant to the Town Manager for The Town of Mint Hill. “This family friendly event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our title sponsor, Novant Health and the multitude of additional sponsors, we are so grateful for their continued support of this event. We encourage everyone to come to the event, visit our sponsors and vendors, enjoy some good food, listen to some amazing bands, stay for the spectacular fireworks display and have a great time.”
