MINT HILL, NC – On November 14, the Town of Mint Hill is honoring the veterans in 2020 style. The modified event will be held as a Veterans Appreciation Drive Through. Starting at Veterans Park in Mint Hill, the procession will begin at 8:00 am and run through 9:00 am. The event is by invitation only, and all veterans attending must RSVP. If you are a veteran and have not received an invitation, please contact Mint Hill Town Hall by calling (704) 545-9726. Details about the event and how to get added to the veterans list are available at this number.
“It’s the least we can do,” said Mayor Brad Simmons. “Those of us who have not served will never fully understand the sacrifices our veterans have made in both times of peace and war. We will never understand the depth of their scars. But we recognize their achievements, courage, dedication, sacrifices, and thank them for their service.”
When the town was reviewing events of the year, they had to cancel many due to the pandemic. In past years the town has honored the Veterans with breakfast. Knowing that they would not be able to hold that event, they all agreed a modified recognition was the direction they wanted to go. They knew that the best and safest way was to host a Veterans Appreciation Drive Through.
Create-A-Video is a local Mint Hill company. They would like to offer their support to the town’s veterans by creating a video that highlights our local heroes. All veterans are asked to submit their favorite pictures. Family members are also encouraged to submit pictures of their armed service members. Create-A-Video is asking those photos that you would like to have included be dropped off at their location. They are located at 8300 Fairview Road (across the street from the Fire Department). Pictures can also be emailed to chall@createavideo.com.
