Mint Hill beat a good Rowan County team 7-1 on the road recently chalking up some big wins in their latest streak. Rowan the # 1 seed in the Southern Division and Mint Hill #2 seed dominated their opponent in this key matchup. Rowan beat Mint Hill during the regular season to gain the top seed. Fury pitcher Jamie Hearn baffled the Rowan batters with a nice combination of high risers, fastballs, and change-ups. Her control was solid and never was in serious trouble. She tossed 5 innings, allowing just 5 hits, no runs, no walks, and had three strikeouts. While, ace Taylor Williams hurled the final two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Mint Hill exploded again in the second inning with 5 big runs to break this game wide open. The big bats were led by Olivia Baker, Mikenna Williams, Emma Bosquet, and Mallory Shaver who each contributed huge RBI’s in the inning.

The Fury are a solid offensive team, they tend to jump on their opponent early in the ballgame, and add insurance runs or late-inning comebacks striking with aggressive base running, speed, and power.

They added two insurance runs by scoring one run in the sixth inning, and power hitter Taylor Houseton blasted a solo home run in the seventh inning making a Rowan comeback highly unlikely.

Mint  Hill Legion racked up eight hits in the ballgame. Houseton, Williams, and Midori Walkup all managed to get multiple hits for the Fury. Houseton went 3-for-4 to lead the offense. While both Williams and Walkup went 2-for-4 on the night. Shaver delivered two key RBI’s making a nice contribution. The defense was tight committing just one error, and when this team plays a good defensive game with few physical and no mental mistakes, they are tough to beat. The pitching has been excellent and should be well-rested in the District Championship round.

Mint Hill come out and support your Mint Hill Fury as they take on Central Davidson  Tuesday, July 27th at 7:00 PM. The ballgame will be played at Mint Hill Athletic Association Field #1, located on 9700 Brief Road, Mint Hill, NC.
